Myself, Anush Shetty

Hellos! I am a software engineer by profession based in Bangalore. I have always been fascinated by information architecture and user interface design which I why I have been able to do a lot of work on the web. And another interest are is wildlife conservation. These tow interest areas have enabled me to contribute and support various conservation projects. I have been associated with National Center for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bangalore and Nature Conservation Foundation, Mysore for a couple of years now in many of their citizen science efforts. I have learnt a lot by being associated with them.

I am a very keen birdwatcher. Watching birds in the wild gives me immense joy and satisfaction. It only strengthens my belief on how we need to work towards protecting the environment. This has made me travel to various remote parts of the country looking for birds. Apart from that, I have also been actively involved in various efforts to save trees in Bangalore.

I enjoy running and cycling too. I have been running since 2009. I did my first 10km run in Sept 2010, a half marathon (21.1kms) in 2009 and my first full marathon in 2011 (42.2kms). All of these were at the Kaveri Trail Marathon held along the cauvery river canal in the beatiful town of Srirangapatna, Mysore. The runners’ high is thrilling. I enjoy cycling but don’t really end up doing it as much as I’d like to.

I walk a lot. I enjoy walking on trails which have a lot of trees. With whatever little I know about trees, I do try and observe the phenology changes in trees. Walking also gives me that space to think about various issues.

My music tastes are limited to classic rock and a bit of Indian classical music. Some of my favourites are The Beatles, Robert Plant & Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, Simon & Garfunkel, Nancy Sinatra, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez in no particular order.

And yes, I love the south indian filter coffee :-)
